4. To manually adjust the image contrast (the difference between light and dark areas in an image),
touch Manual Contrast, then touch the pointer to adjust the contrast level. The default setting is
Auto Contrast.
5. Touch Save.
Adjusting Layout
Adjusting the Original Size
1. Touch Fax on the touch screen.
2. Touch the Layout Adjustment tab, then touch Original Size.
3. Touch one of the following:
• Auto Detect, which enables the printer to automatically identify the size of the originals.
• Preset Scan Areas, for manual definition of the scan area using standard paper dimensions.
• Custom Scan Area, for manual definition of a custom scan area.
• Mixed Size Originals, for scanning originals of different standard sizes.
4. Touch Save.
Reducing or Splitting
1. Touch Fax on the touch screen.
2. Touch the Layout Adjustment tab, then touch Reduce/Split.
3. Touch one of the following options:
• Reduce to Fit, which shrinks large documents to fit on smaller paper.
• Split Across Pages, which continues a single image across several pages.
4. Touch Save.
Book Faxing
1. Touch Fax on the touch screen.
2. Touch the Layout Adjustment tab, then touch Book Faxing.
3. Touch one of the following options:
• Off (Default).
• Both Pages to scan both pages of the book. If required, touch the arrows to set the Binding
Edge Erase.
• Left Page Only to scan the left page of the book. If required, touch the arrows to set the
Binding Edge Erase.
• Right Page Only to scan the right page of the book. If required, touch the arrows to set the
Binding Edge Erase.
4. Touch Save.
