leads / wir es downward.
W ARNING: The aircra can take-off with 2 or 3
baeries. If ulizing 2 flight baeries, mak e sure the
2 ba eries are placed evenly within the two sides to
balance the aircra . The voltag e between each
baery pack must be within 0.1V prior to
connecng the baeries to the aircra. B e sure to
use the included baery v oltage meter.
POWERING ON/OFF
NOTICE: ALWA YS turn on the ST16 and allow it to
boot up BEFORE turning on the T ORNADO H920
(and AL WA YS turn off the TORNADO H920
BEFORE turning off the ST16 ).
Retr acng and L owering the Retractable Landing
Gear
The TORNADO H920’s landing gear should be k ept
out o f frame when a camera is aached. T o re tract
the landing gear, flip the Landing Gear Switch
upward. The Landing Gear S witch located on the
top right side of the ST16. Mak e sure to flip the
switch to the down ward posion when landing.
IMPORT ANT NO TE: Alwa ys put the landing gear in
the down posion before landing TORNADO H920
and befor e the flight height r eaches 3m (10 feet).
STARTING/STOPPING THE MOTORS
Step back approximately 26 feet (8 meters) behind
the TORNADO H920. Press and hold the
ST ART /STOP buon for about 3 seconds to start,
and about 2 seconds to stop the motors.
CONTROL RATE SLIDER
The P roporonal C ontrol R ate Slider , located on the
right side of the ST16 Ground S taon, allows you to
set the overall climb/ descend and direconal
control rates.
Use the turtle posion for the lowest control rates
(best for first-me pilots and required when flying
between 5000 feet and 8000 feet Above M ean Sea
Le vel), and use the rabbit
posion for the highest
control rates (best for
experienced pilots and can
only be used when flying
below 5000 fee t MSL). Or
use a posion in between if
you pr efer.
FLIGHT MODES
The ST16 is equipped with 3 different flight modes
which can be selected using the mode switch in the
top right corner above the right joysck.
SMART MODE
If t he Flight Mode selecon switch is fully up, then
the H920 is in S mart Mode.
Although we r ecommend learning how to fly as
soon as possible in Angle Mode, Smart Mode is the
best choice f or novice pilo ts when test flying.
In Smart Mode, the H920 always flies in the
direcon in which the right joysck is moved by the
pilot, regardless of the direcon in which the nose is
poinng. So if you mo ve the sck to the righ t, the
H920 will also move to the right regardless of the
ANGLE MODE
If the Flight Mode selecon switch is in the centre
posion, then the H920 is in Angle Mode. Angle
Mode is designed for pilots with some experience
(those who have already master ed Smart Mode ),
because in this mode the H920 moves in line with
the joysck, in the dir econ in which the nose is
pointed. Assuming the nose is pointed away from
you, if you mo ve the right sck to the le, the H920
will lt to the le and move to the le. If the nose
is poinng towar d y ou, the H920 will mo ve to the
right from your point of view .
CAMERA CONTROLS (SINGLE MODE)
BINDING
The T ORNADO H920 and ST16 hav e already been
bound befor e leaving pr oducon, so ther e is no
need to bind the aircra to the ST16 if no gimbal is
used. If the CGO4 gimbal is to be aached to the
aircra, both the CGO4 and TORNADO H920 need
to be bound.
FLIGHT CONTROLS
To take off, first start the motors in angle mode,
then slowly raise the le-hand sck to slightly
above the cen ter posion. the TORNADO H920
will tak e off and climb slowly ( or raise the sck
further unl it does ). Allow the sck to return to the
center posion when the T ORNADO H920 reaches
the desired altude.
PLACEMENT BEF ORE T AKEOFF
STEP 3) Connect the flight baery to the relevant
socket above the respecv e baery on the H920
using the EC3 blue, polarity-protected connector .
NOTICE: The white sock et is for baery charging. Do
not connect it to any port when installing the baeries. If
you do not install the baery in the correct orientaon
it will not be possible to make a posiv e connecon.
STEP 4) F asten the baery belt then close the baery
door and ensure the door is closed safely by the magnet.
Installing the Pr opellers
IMPORT ANT NOTE: Always ensure propellers are
installed properly . The motors ar e extremely
powerful, meaning that if the device is misused
there is a risk o f material damage, serious injury and
even fa tal injury.
Mount the propellers on the motors properly and
note the 'A ' and 'B' given on the motor arms. This
disncon between ' A' and 'B' refers to propeller ' A'
and 'B' . Mount propeller 'A ' on motor ' A ' and
propeller 'B' on motor 'B' , press and rotate the
propeller in the rever se direcon the arrow points
to. When you hear a click, the propeller is lock ed
successfully .

If the main LED status indicator flashes yellow , you
will need to follow the compass calibraon
procedur e. If the main LED status indicator is
flashing blue, double check that the ST16 is
powered on and set to the correct model memory .
If the main LED status indica tor is sll flashing blue,
please bind the air cra to the ST16.
W ARNING: Smart M ode only works if the H920
has an adequate GPS signal. If you li off in Smart
Mode and the H920 loses its GPS signal, then it will
switch automacally to Angle Mode. That is why
we explicitly recommend familiarising yourself with
flying in Angle Mode as soon as possible.
Otherwise, when the GPS signal is lost and y ou are
unable to fly in Angle Mode, then there is a
possibility that you may crash or that the H920 will
fly away uncontrolled. Addionally , in order for
Smart Mode to work properly , you shouldn't mov e
the posion of the ST16 from the original starng
point.
IMPORT ANT NO TE: A ccidental damage and “fly
aways” are not c overed b y the guarant ee.
Extra Angle Mode featur es:
POSITION FREEL Y AND RET AIN AL TITUDE
The H920 will hold its posion automacally
(when GPS on if there is sufficient GPS signal) and it
will retain the altude level if the le sck is in the
middle posion.
W ARNING: If y ou have not master ed the H920 in
Angle Mode, ac cidents or “fly aways” may r esult.
IMPORT ANT NO TE: A ccidental damage and “fly
aways” are not c overed b y the warranty.
W e recommend that you take your me learning
how the TORNADO H920 responds to various
control inputs while flying. In Smart Mode, the
TORNADO H920 will always move in the direcon
the right-hand control sck is pushed r elave to the
pilot and no maer which wa y the front/nose is
pointed. In Angle (Pilot) Mode the TORNADO
H920 will move in the direcon the control sck is
pushed relave to the front/ nose o f the aircra
(and the ‘ angle’ of movement is determined by how
far you push the sck away from the center
posion).
IMPORT ANT NOTE: The joysck with the two
control scks responds proporona tely, meaning
that the further you mov e the control sck from the
centred r esng point, the str onger the response
and the faster the change in course.
IMPORT ANT NOTE: The maximum height is
restricted to 122m above the ground in Smart
Mode and 122m (400 .) in Angle Mode. If a t any
me during flight you feel like the TORNADO
H920 is driing out of /beyond your con trol, simply
release both control scks. TORNADO H920 will
automacally self-level and will even hold its
posion ( with GPS on and a suitable GPS signal
/lock) when both control scks are centered. Y ou
can also acvate Home Mode so the TORNADO
H920 automa cally flies itself back to the home
