WORKPIECE CLAMP USAGE (FIG. 24)
W ARNING
Avoid thrown workpieces. A void binding the work
against the blade.
■ Always hold or clamp your work down to the saw .
■ Do not hold or clamp the workpiece on both sides of
the blade. The blade can throw a cut off piece if you
confine the workpiece on both sides of the blade.
■ Read and follow the instructions in the remainder of
your saw’s owners manual.

■ The clamp can be used only in a vertical position.
■ Place material to be cut on table of miter saw . Secure
workpiece to the fence and table by turning knob to
tighten clamp. Do not overtighten the clamp. It should
just lightly hold the wood against the fence and table.

power h ead down as if you were mak ing an act ual cut.
Check for interferen ces and for potentia lly dangerous

LOWER BLADE GUARD
Do not use the saw without the lower guard. The lower
blade guar d is atta ched to t he sa w for your prot ection.
Should the lower guard become damaged, do not use the
saw until damaged guard has been replaced. Develop a
regula r chec k to make sure the lower guard is working
properly . Clean the lower guard of any dust or build up
with a damp cloth.
CAUTION
Do no t u se sol vent s o n t he gua rd. The y c ould
make the plastic "cloudy" and brittle.

When cleaning lower guard unplug the saw from
the outlet to avoid unexpected startup.

Frequently blow out or vacuum up the sawdust.

BALL BEARINGS
All the motor beari ngs in this tool are lubri cated with a
suff icie nt amou nt of high gr ade lub rica nt for th e li fe of
the unit, therefore, no further lubrication is required.

blade could twist the workpiece from your grasp.
Workpieces up to 342.9 mm wide and 88.9 mm thick can
be cut following the directions below:
■ Put w ood ag ain st fen ce an d s ecu re wit h cla mp as
appropriate.
■ Loosen the slide lock knob.
■ Grasp the saw handle and pull the carriage until the
arbor (center of saw-blade) is over the front edge of
the workpiece.
■ Switch on the saw and allow to come to full speed.
■ P u s h t h e s a w h a n d l e a l l t h e w a y d o w n a n d c u t
through the leading edge of the workpiece.
■ G e n t l y p u s h t h e s a w h a n d l e t o w a r d s t h e f e n c e
completing the cut.
■ Push power head to full rear position after each cut.
■ T urn motor off and allow blade to come to a complete
stop before moving hands.
CHOP CUTTING (FIG. 20)
■ Slide the cutting head to the rear as far as it will go.
■ Lock slide lock knob.
■ Posi tion wor kpie ce o n t able an d ag ains t fe nce and
secure with clamp as appropriate.
■ T urn on saw and lower blade into work-piece.
■ After cut is complete turn off saw , allow blade to stop
rotating before allowing cutting head to rise up.
BODY AND HAND POSITION
■ Never place hands near cutting area. Place hand at
least 100 mm from path of blade.
■ H o l d w o r k p i e c e f i r m l y t o t h e f e n c e t o p r e v e n t
movement toward the blade.
■ Whe n h old ing th e w ork piec e to the le ft si de of th e
blade, always use your left hand. Use your right hand
to hold the workpiece to the right side of the blade.
■ Before making a cut, make a “dry run” with the power
off so you can see the path of the blade.
■ Keep hands in position until trigger has been released
and the blade has completely stopped.
Do not try to cu t short pieces, you can not pro perly
suppor t the work piece and keep your hold down
hand t he requ ired di stance from t he blad e.
MITER CUT (FIG. 21)
W h e n a m i t e r c u t i s r e q u ir e d , m o v e t h e s a w t o t h e
desired angle. Move with the handle to the miter angle to
make the cut. Th ere are settings on the miter scale f or
angles (degrees) and crown molding.

BEVEL CUT (FIG. 22)
When a bev el cut is re quired ti lt the bla de to desir ed bevel
angle. Stand to the left si de of the han dle to make th e cut.
SLIDING FENCE
When beveling the blade to t he left or back fence may
have to be repositioned. Loosen the fence locking knob
and slide the fence to the left or right as needed. Adjust
the fenc e as clo se to the guar d as pos sible to provi de
ma xim um su pp ort f or th e wor kp iec e. Se cu rel y t ig hte n
knob and make a d ry run with t he saw off to check f or
c le a ra n ce be t we e n t he f e n ce a n d g ua r d. O n c e rt a in
extreme compound cuts it may be necessary to remove a
sliding fence to avoid interference. After completing bevel
cut(s) remember to replace and/or slide the fence back.
VERNIER BEVEL SCALE OPERA TION
The V ernier bevel scale can quickly and accurately help
t he u s er t o a dj u st t h e sa w t o a ny 1 / 2° i nc re m en t a s
illustrated (Fig. 16).

CUTTING BOWED MA TERIAL (FIG. 23)
Before cutting a workpiece, check to make sure it is not
bowed. If it is bowed the workpiec e must be positioned
a n d c u t a s i l l u s t r a t e d . D o n o t p o s i t i o n w o r k p i e c e
incorrectly or try to cut the workpiece without the support
of the fence. This will cause pinching of the workpiece on
the blade. The workpiece could suddenly jump or move
and your hand could hit the blade.
