DIN EN14766 for Mountain bikes, a manufacturer checks and documents that
the bicycle is safe. Recognizable by a sticker or visible in the bicycles ID,
the bicycle dealer or the customer is able to see if the bicycle conforms to
the correct standards. With this sticker/ID you can be sure that the bicyc-
le conforms to the Device and Product Safety Act. It is a requirement that
all parts have been fixed correctly by a trained bicycle mechanic who built
or upgraded the bicycle. The valid standard for Pedelecs / EPAC-Bikes DIN
EN15194 refers to the already mentioned standards DIN EN14764 and DIN
EN14766 when testing the bicycle. That means that Pedelecs are also tested
for the requirements of these standards. The limits for the tests are no stric-
ter than from City / Trekking Bikes or Mountain bikes.
General Assurance
ANSMANN grants a legal warranty for manufacturing or material defects exis-
ting at the point of delivery, restricted to the parts delivered by ANSMANN.
This legal warranty is not valid for defects caused by improper handling, a
lack of maintenance, external impacts or mechanical damage. This is espe-
cially important for used accumulators or accumulators with obvious traces
of use. Performance deficits of the accumulator are not a manufacturing
defect. Accumulators are objects of consumption and are subject to the ef-
fects of aging. This is affected by factors like temperature of use, storage
and the capacity whilst storing. The age of the product can usually be identi-
fied by irreversible loss of capacity. Bicycle manufacturers building bicycles
or Pedelecs are the legal producer/distributor and have to take responsibili-
ty for the warranty / guarantee. Trained bicycle mechanics who are working
in a commercial environment always have to assume liability when they are
building / setting / or changing anything on the bicycle. This is valid for all
parts such as breaks, chain, sprockets, wheels, rims, spokes, and especially
for activities like fixing the electric drive. As long as all safety regulations are
considered and there is no acting against the law, the legislator allowed to
add parts to the bicycle. This is also valid for electric drive systems made by
ANSMANN.
Disclaimer of Liability
As it is not possible to control the loading / unloading, the handling, that all
assembling rules and operating notes are obeyed and also the impossibility
to maintenance the accumulator, ANSMANN is not able to take any liability for
losses, damages or costs. Any claim of compensation which can be caused
by the use, defaults or malfunctions, or is connected to it in any way, will
