The CR450 univ ersal remote
contr oller
e CR450 is a sophistica ted ‘ universal ’ backlit remot e
contr ol that can co ntrol u p to eight devices. I t is pr e-
program med for use with the A V950/A VR750/450/380
and man y other Ar cam products (FM/D AB tune rs, CD
player s and DVD p layers).
W ith its exten sive built-in lib rary of codes, it can also
be used with thousands of third party a udio-visual
compo nents – TVs, satellite a nd set-top boxes, PVRs,
CD player s, etc. See the list of codes at the back of this
handbook, beginning on page 49.
e CR450 is a ‘learning ’ remote , so you can teach it
almost an y function from an old sin gle-device remote.

Using the remote c ontrol
Please keep in mind the followin g when using the
remote control:
< Ensur e there ar e no obstacles between the
remot e contr ol and the remo te sensor on the
A V950/A VR750/450/380. e remote ha s a
range o f about 7 metre s. (If the remo te sensor is
obscured, the Z1 IR remo te contr ol inp ut jack
on the rear pan el is availab le. Please consult
your dealer fo r further information.)

Notes on batteries:

Incorrect use of bat teries can result in h azards such

although they may look similar , dierent ba tteries

1. Open the batt er y co mpartment o n the back of
the handset, by slidin g its cov er o.
2. I nsert two ‘ AAA ’ batt eries, as indicated in the
bat ter y c ompar tme nt.
3. Slide the ba ttery compartment co ver back rmly
into i ts locked position with a click.

For e xample , if you ar e listening to a CD , y ou will
proba bly hav e the CR450 in CD Device Mode to contr ol
the CD player . Y ou can use the vo lume con trols on the
remot e directly to adjus t the volume o f the A V950/
A VR750/450/380 without rs t having to p ress

Useful inf ormation
Backlight
A backlight comes o n for eight second s whenever a key
is pres sed. is helps yo u use the handset in subdued
lighting condi tions.
Po wer LED blinks
Short blinks indica te a valid key press.
M ultiple sho rt blinks convey info rmation (s uch as a
device code) or signal the beginning and successful
comp letion of a pr ogramming sequence.

Timeouts and unassigned k eys
Time ou t – Aer 30 seconds the CR450 exits the
program ming state a nd returns to n ormal operation.
Stuck key timeout – A er any k ey is pressed
contin uously f or 30 seconds, the CR450 sto ps sending
IR transmissio n to conserve battery life. e CR450
remain s o until all keys are r eleased.
U nassigne d keys – the CR450 ignores a ny unassigned
key pres ses for a particular Device Mode and does not
transmit IR.
