standby mode. If the batteries are running
low, the handset will display a flashing BATT
warning message. If you are on a call, the
handset will give a series of beeps and the BATT
warning message will remain on the display.
You will have about 30 seconds before the call
is cut off.
Normally, replacing the handset on the base
unit to recharge overnight will keep it fully
operative for normal everyday use.
If, in time, you find that the batteries are not
holding sufficient charge, they should be
replaced. New batteries are available from BT
phone shops or your supplier.
To change the handset batteries
• Slide open the battery cover on the back of
the handset and remove the old battery.
• Place the new battery in the compartment;
remember to plug in the battery connector
• Replace the battery cover and place the
handset on the base unit.
• Leave the handset to re-charge for 24 hours.
Noise or interference on the handset
You may be at the extreme range of the
handset. Try moving nearer the base.
The base or handset may be too close to other
electrical equipment and metal objects.
(Occasionally, overhead power lines can cause
interference when you use the handset
outdoors. Try again nearer the base).
If your Freestyle picks up conversations from
other cordless phones, you can change the
channel during a call. See page 21.
Handset seems to be ‘dead’
Check that the mains power is switched on at
the base. Make sure the handset batteries are
fully charged.
Check that the base unit telescopic aerial is
fully extended and is away from other electrical
appliances or large metal objects such as a
radiator, shelf unit or garage door.
Try resetting the phone by unplugging it from
the mains and removing the handset and base
back-up batteries for a few seconds.
Now reconnect the batteries, plug in the base,
replace the handset on the base and try again.
Installing handset batteries and recharging
When fully charged and in good condition, the
handset batteries will last for up to 5 hours
continuous use in talk mode or 48 hours in
BATTERY
