4.7 Buffer storage tank

Reservoir for heated water. Is an absolute necessity. The

size is selected using the following rule of thumb: 50 l/kW

(kW output for houses), above 700 l.

4. Installing the Profi W boiler stove

4.1 Regulations:

The current editions of the relevant DIN standards and

technical codes of practice must be observed.

4.2 Connecting to the heating system:

All junctions between the heating insert connections and

the heating circuits must be implemented using unions.

4.3 Feed:

The Schmid Profi W completely submerged heating insert

is suitable for preparing hot water for heating systems with

allowable feed temperatures up to 100 °C.

4.4 Heating system execution:

As (1) open system with elevated expansion tank, with

safety feed pipe and safety return pipe to DIN EN 12828 or

as (2) closed system to DIN EN 12828.

(1) Open system:

The hydrostatic head at the lowest point on the boiler may

not exceed 2.5 bar (25 m water column) to DIN EN 12828.

The air from the boiler stove must be able discharge

through the open expansion tank.

(2) Closed system:

The hydrostatic head at the lowest point on thermosta-

tically controlled boiler systems may not exceed 1.5 bar

(15 m water column) to DIN EN 12828. The following

components must be installed on closed systems fitted

with closed expansion tanks to DIN EN 12828:

a component-tested, code H, pressure relief valve,

activating at a positive pressure of 2.5 bar (25 m water

column) and

a metal automatic vent valve.

4.5 Circulation pump

A circulation pump with non-return valve must be used.

Flow direction (arrow) towards hot water top pipe bank.

The thermostat (Point 4.8 Fig. 1) may only switch on the

pump when the water temperature in the heating insert has

reached approx. 60° C.

4.6 Return boost:

A permanent return boost must be installed to allow the

bank to be operated with a return temperature of at least

55 °C or, even better, 60 °C (less soot deposits).

Warning:

Non-installation of the return boost will lead to

corrosion, shining soot formation on the bank heating

surfaces and condensation in the hot water bank,

heating insert, fire tube and flue!

4.9 Electrical connections
