Microphone Characteristics (MIC Terminal)

You can choose the microphone characteristics as necessary.

Select > [

Audio Setup] > [MIC Low Cut] or [Built-in Mic Low Cut] > Desired option.

Options

[Off]: For recording audio under usual conditions.

[LC1]: For recording mainly people’s voices.

[LC2]: For reducing the background sound of wind when recording outdoors in windy surroundings (for

example, on a beach or close to buildings). Note that when you use this setting some

low-frequency sounds may be suppressed along with the sound of wind.

Microphone Attenuator (DM-E1D Directional Stereo Microphone)

You can activate the microphone attenuator for an external microphone attached to the multi-function shoe (20

dB).

Select > [

Audio Setup] > [Shoe Mic Attenuator] > [On].

You can choose the microphone characteristics (for microphones compatible with the multi-function shoe) as

necessary.

Select > [

Audio Setup] > [Shoe Mic Low Cut] > Desired option.

Options

[Off]: For recording audio under usual conditions.

[On]: For reducing the background sound of wind when recording outdoors in windy surroundings (for

example, on a beach or close to buildings). Note that when you use this setting some low-

Microphone Directionality (DM-E1D Directional Stereo Microphone)

Select > [

Audio Setup] > [Shoe Mic Directionality] > Desired option.

Options

[Shotgun (Monoaural)]:

Captures clear audio from the front of the microphone.

[90°(Stereo)]: Captures suitable audio from both the front and the sides of the microphone.

[120°(Stereo)]: Captures audio from a wider angle.

About the monaural microphone

The monaural microphone allows you to add comments while shooting, which can be synchronized to the audio

and video during editing. The audio recording level of the monaural microphone is adjusted automatically and

cannot be changed. To use the monaural microphone, set [¡ Audio Setup] > [Monaural Mic] to [On].
