andshortsentences,alsoinanotherlanguage.

HOW THE TOY WORKS
Turning it on and selecting the language
• Turnthetoyonbymovingtheswitch(A,Fig.1)onthefarmwindmillfrom0toeitherIorIIdependingonthevolumedesired.Abriefinitial
welcomemelodyplayswhenitgoeson.Fromthispointon,allelectronicfunctionsareactive.
• Whenthetoyisturnedon,itisautomaticallysettothemothertongue.Youcanchangelanguagebypressingthebuttonsonthefront
ofthetoy(B,Fig.1).Ashortmelodyplays,conrmingyourselection.
• Afterabriefpause,thetoygreetsthechildandrevertstostand-bymodeuntiloneoftheactivitybuttonsispressed.
• Toextendbatterylife,werecommendthatyoualwaysturnthetoyoffbysettingtheswitch(A)to0.
How to play
Foragraduallearningoftheeducationalcontent,werecommendstartingplayatlevel1andthenmovinguptolevels2and3.
Level 1: ANIMALS & COLORS
Pressthelevel1button(C,Fig.1)onthefarmwindmillandalightgoesontoconrmyourchoice;theinitialnurseryrhymestartstoplay
introducingthechildtotheactivityforthislevel:
“Somanysoundsdownonthefarm.Whyit'stheanimalsgoinground.There'saredroosterandabirdsoblue,picktheoneyoulike,it's
uptoyou”
Whenthechildpressesthebuttonsforthevariousanimals,itwillbethrilledtohearthenamesoftheanimals,theircolorsandsounds.An
imageoftheanimalselectedandthecorrespondingcolorappearsontheLCDdisplay(F,Fig.1).
Level 2: QUIZ
Pressthelevel2button(D,Fig.1)andalightgoesontoconrmyourchoice;theinitialnurseryrhymestartstoplayintroducingthechild
totheactivityforthislevel:
“Eightanimalstondyouknow,listentotheirsounds,let’sgo!”
Thetoyposesquestions,invitingthechildtogivetherightanswer.Ifthechildguessesright,achildappearsontheLCDdisplayconrming
therightanswerandtheanimalisdisplayedmakingitstypicalsound.
Ifthechildpressesthewronganimalordoesnotpressanythingatall,achildappearsontheLCDdisplaysaying“OH,OH”andthequestion
isrepeated.ThenanimageappearsontheLCDdisplaytohelpthechildrecognizetherightanimal.Ifthewrongbuttonispressedseveral
times,thetoyprovidestherightanswerandmovesontothenextquestion.
Level 3: NURSERY RHYME
Pressthelevel3button(E,Fig.1)andalightgoesontoconrmyourchoice;theinitialnurseryrhymestartstoplayintroducingthechild
totheactivityforthislevel:
“Whataretheanimals'livesallabout?Listentotherhymesandyou'llsoonndout.”
Pressingthebuttonforthecorrespondinganimal,thechildwillhearanurseryrhymerecountingtheanimal'shabitsandamovingimage
oftheanimalwillappearontheLCDdisplay.
Other talking activities
Whenthewindow(G,Fig.1)ismovedtotheright,thechildwillhearthealphabetsong(ABC)andifitismovedagain,willhearthenumber
song(1,2,3)whilethelettersornumbersappearontheLCDdisplay.
