Atomic DCF77 Clock

Here is the information which is necessary to write some software to get the right time in your

network or computer by using the ELPROMA DCF CLOCK.

Transmition is bidirectional with the following parameters:

Asyncronic transmition 19200 bps, 8 bits, 1 stop bit, parity even(RS232 SETTINGS).

The DCF Clock answers at the time request send from the computers as following:

- START_BYTE BAh - when the reguest was 75h

- OR BBh - when the reguest was 78h

- HOURS Binary

- MINUTES Binary

- SECONDS Binary

- YEAR Binary

- MONTH Binary

- DAY_OF_MONTH Binary

- WEEK_DAY Binary,( Mon=1, Tue=2, ...,Sun=7)

- CHECK_SUM checksum (sum modulo 256) of fields 2-8

After the calculation the result is logical ANDed with 7Fh and the result placed in this field.

- STOP_BYTE_VAL C5h - when the time is valid

- STOP_BYTE_INV D2h - when the time is invalid

Request send to the DCF PC Clock from the computer.

75h - Time reguest. The answer from the DCF PC Clock is send to the computer at the half of the

next second.

78h - Time reguest. The answer from the DCF PC Clock is send to the computer at the beginning of

the next second.

Following byte send to the computer: 01n5n4n3n2n1n0 (Bin)

-(where n5n4n3n2n1n0 is binary coded number from 0 to 63)

sets the interval (in minutes) of the automatic transmition

of the time from the DCF PC Clock to the computer.

For example 40hex(@) stops the transmition and 41hex(A) sets the

interval at 1 minute, 60 minutes 7Dhex(}).
