In the surveillance applications, alarm video/audio is much more important than n ormal video/audio . So, this digital vid eo/audio
r
ecorder is des igned to allow the user to divide each HD D into a larm partition and normal partition. And, alarm video /audio will be
recorded in alarm partition, normal video/audio in normal partition.
The HDD Setup a llows the administrator to format/clear e ach HDD, set Alarm Reco rd size and Normal Record s ize o f each HDD,
and define the behaviors for Alarm Record and Normal Record if it reaches the end of the last HDD in the system.
The general operations are as follows :

ut o Overwrite – automatic overwrite of the reco rded video/audio from HDD#1 when the Alarm/Normal Rec ord disk drive
capacity reaches the end of th e last H DD. If A ut o Overwrite is disabled and the Alarm/Normal Record disk drive c apacity
reaches the end, the system will not overwrite the recorded video/audio, and hence not record Alarm/Normal video/audio, until

.6.1 HDD Format/Clear
In HDD Setup display , press M
ODE to call up HDD Format/Clear screen as shown.
The HDD must be for m atted before it can be used t o record video/audio. T
he HDD Format/Clear s creen al lows the
administrator to format and /or c lear each HDD, and set the size for Alarm Rec ord part ition an d Normal Record pa rtition for each
HDD. P lease use only HDD with maximum st orage s ize as 500GB, and make s ure there’s no re mo te user before for m atting
the HDD.

(%) and Normal REC Size (%) disp layed on the s creen, b ut the previously recorded contents within the ne w size won’t
be cleared and will be accessible.

Press this button to clear the H D D. A confirmation dialog will be shown on the screen, press ENTER to con firm, or ESC to

Note: If the HDD has not been formatted y et, it will be formatted and partitioned with default r ecord size, 3 0% for Alarm

ecord and 70% for Normal re cord. If it h as been formatte d (and recorded) before , it wil l be partitioned according to the
Alarm Reco rd Size (%) a nd Normal Reco rd Size (%) displayed o n the s creen, and the previously r ecorded c ontents will
all be cleared.

Press this b utton to physically format t he se lected HDD. A confirmation dialog will be shown on the screen, pre ss ENTER to
confirm, or ESC to ca ncel. Please note that the recording will be always opti m iz ed for perfor m a nce & lifeti m e no m atter

’s for the first time or for the on e h undredth tim e . T he f ormatting would take l e ss than 1 minute. We strongly
recomm end that the user use this physical form at function to for m at the HDD for the first time.

.7 Password Setup
In Setup Menu displa y , press ▲
▼ to ch ange the highlighted option t o P assword , and then pr ess ENTER to call up Password
Setup as shown.
The Pas sword Setup allows the administrator to add new users, d elete ex isting ones, a nd/or m od ify the user ’ s name, password,
a
nd/or level.
There are three password l evels i n the system, inc luding A
dministrator (highest), Sup e rvisor, and Operator ( lowest). The
Operator can operate live video display , the Supervisor live video display , image playback a nd archive, and the Administrator
everything. Th e system allows up to 18 user accounts.
There is one factory-preset login n ame/password aa/11 at A
dministrator lev el. The user can use i t to login t he system for the first
time.
