OPERA TING INSTRUCTIONS
GENERAL INS TRUCTIONS
A fairly pr otect ed location is desirable f or pleasant and ecient cooking. T ry to keep
the barbeque shelter ed from str ong winds as this will drastically alt er cooking eciency .
Keep the barbeque le vel. Check fr equently that the char coal stays ignit ed (this does not
necessarily mean a ame is visible ), and that ar e ups are not occurring. Make sure the
minimum distances of the barbeque t o any wall or combustible surface ar e met, and tha t
the supporting surface can withstand the hea t.
WARNING! This barbeque will become very hot during operation. If you need to mo ve it
during operation, we recommend t aking extreme car e and grab by the handles only . Never
grab the barbeque by the body or sides when in use .
For mor e specic information (including set -up illustrations and diagr ams) and up t o date
cooking instructions, please visit the Ever dure by Hest on Blumenthal website a t

FUEL TYPE AND CONSUMPTION
This barbeque is designed to cook with lump char coal. The heat pr oduced and
consumption time may v ary dramatically depending on the type of fuel used, and the
pre vailing weather conditions. Please see the Quick User Guide for mor e informa tion on
charcoal ignition and cooking. Do not use accelerant s for fuel ignition or fuels impr egnated
with accelerant s in this appliance as they may cause damage to the appliance or injury .
When igniting the charcoal, pile the charcoal up ov er the charcoal grid (this is the cir cular
grid above the element in the cen tre of the char coal chamber) so that it o verows the
grid by no mor e than 20mm. When in use, the height of the char coal should never pass
the top lev el of the charcoal chamber and the amount being used a t any one time should
not exceed 1. 8kg.
Aft er cooking, the r emaining charcoal should be allow ed to burn o natur ally (this should
be taken int o account when planning the cooking times). Once nished, the ash and
remaining fuel should be r emoved and placed int o a non-ammable cont ainer (a metal
bucket is ideal), a small amount of wat er added (just in case there is still any heat left in
the waste ) and disposed of saf ely as per local council rules. No te that pr otection fr om heat
should always be used.
CHROME OPEN GRILL
The cooking surface f or this barbeque is a pair of chromed open grills, which can be
fully remo ved or lever ed up from the fr ont to add additional char coal. The grills should
be positioned so that the grill handles ar e to the fron t (they will allocate in the no tches
at the fr ont of the barbeque ). T ake care that f ood cooked is wider than the gaps in the
grills or positioned lengthwa ys so it doesn’t f all through. Over time, the surf ace of the
grills will discolour with the heat of the fuel (this is a normal pr ocess and not a fault ). It is
recommended tha t the grills are placed on the barbeque aft er the charcoal has ignit ed and
any adjustment on the fuel distribution has been done. If needed please remov e the grills
for gr eater clear ance. A fter use, allow the grills to cool and then clean. A fter cleaning, coat
with a little cooking oil to minimise an y rusting. Note - During and a fter opera tion: Whilst
the grill handles are cool t o touch, please be a war e that the grill surface will be hot - handle
with care .
ROTISCOPE TECHNOL OGYTM
Rotiscope T echnologyTM is the patent pending built-in r otisserie syst em of the barbeque.
The maximum ra ted capacity of the mot or is 40kg, Please check the dimensions o f the
meat ar e suitable for the pr oduct befor e purchasing.
The ro tisserie rod and Cliplock ForksTM ar e stor ed in the compartment at the fr ont of the
left hand side panel. L ift the storage door up, remo ve the Cliplock ForksTM (take car e of
the sharp points of the f ork ngers) and pull the r od out fr om the storage br acket (this
is enclosed so the rod will no t interfer e with the electrical wiring ). Note : If the barbeque
has been in operation, the rotisserie part s may be hot – r emove bef ore cooking or use
heat pr oof gloves. T o t food ont o the rotisserie , rst slide a Cliplock F orkTM (base rst)
onto the r od, and lock o b y pressing down the small f ork lever . Push the food ont o the
ro tisserie rod and ont o the Cliplock ForkTM . Push the second Cliplock ForkTM onto the r od
and into the o ther end of the food, and lock in position b y pressing down the small f ork
lever . This can be r epeated (if necessary ) with the second set of Cliplock F orksTM .
T o ext end the rotisserie poles, rst press and r elease them so the inner section pops out
from the barbeque . Pull the poles up and ro tate clockwise t o allocate the poles in one
of the 3 height set tings. The pole t o the right contains the r otisserie motor . T ake the
ro tisserie rod with the food a ttached and place the point ed end in the motor hole at the
top of the righ t hand side pole. L ever the handle side of the r od down into the slo t of the
left hand pole and close the pole cover . T urn on the r otisserie by pressing the righ t button
(an audible sound and LED will indicate this has turned on ). Adjust char coal to suit the
food being cooked.
Do not leav e the appliance cooking for extended periods o f time unattended. As food
cooks on the ro tisserie, fa t can drip o causing are-ups which can spoil f ood. Constan t
supervision can help to r educe the incidence of food spoilage.
When the food has nished cooking, press the right butt on again (the LED at the swit ch
will turn o), t o stop the r otisserie from turning. Hold the handle with one hand and lift the
other end fr om the motor (using hea t resistan t gloves). Place food on a platt er and release
the outer Cliplock F orkTM , then remo ve using metal t ools. Release the second Cliplock
ForkTM and r emove the rod. Pull the second fork fr om the food. No te: T ake care as the
ro tisserie parts will be hot. Clean the r od by rubbing down with w ater and det ergent, and
clean the Cliplock ForksTM by r st soaking in hot water and then rubbing do wn with water
and deter gent. Once dry , the r od can be coated with a thin lm o f cooking oil.
With the barbeque cool, open the st orage door on the left hand side of the barbeque and
push the rod in to the round hole , then overlap the Cliplock ForksTM and put next to the
rod handle . Rota te the two r otisserie poles anti-clockwise and then lower . T o x into the
barbeque, pr ess them slightly below the t op level of the barbeque and r elease (the internal
spring switch will then hold them in place ).
AFTER COOKING
1. Aft er cooking and whilst the barbeque is still warm, r emove scr aps from the grill with a
scraper .
2. Excess fa t and meat scraps can be scr aped o the inside of the barbeque by r emoving
the grill to gain access.
WARNING: Some surfaces may still be hot – please use pr ot ective gloves.
3. Remov e wastes fr om inside charcoal chamber , and under the char coal grid and element.
IGNITION PROCEDURE
LIGHTING THE BARBEQUE USING THE F AST FLAME
IGNITION SY STEMTM
The Fast Flame Ignition Syst emTM works on the principle that char coal will ignite when
heated abo ve a certain temper ature (it is no t dependant on a ame to ignite ). Fir st pile the
charcoal o ver the charcoal grid ( allowing it to o verow up to 20mm ). With the char coal in
place, pr ess the left butt on (an audible sound and LED will indica te that the element has
turned on). The element will heat up and run f or 7 minutes. During this time, the char coal
closest to the element will ignit e. As it heat s up and ashes, the surr ounding charcoal will
do the same. A fter 7 minut es the element will turn o and the ignition of the char coal will
continue to na turally ignite. Aft er 10- 15 minutes (depending on the w eather conditions and
the fuel used), most of the char coal should have partially or fully ignit ed. Using met al tools,
spread the char coal inside the charcoal chamber and add e xtra fuel if necessary ( extra fuel
can be added during the cooking period as well). Ne ver use more than 1. 8kg of fuel a t any
one time. See the Quick User Guide for mor e informa tion.
