1. After you have finished cooking, turn the control dial counter-clockwise to “OFF”.
Unplug the appliance from the power outlet. You may leave the fondue pot on
the heating plate, while the appliance is cooling down.
2. Leave the appliance cool down to room temperature. Always remove the fondue
pot, before moving the appliance. You should remove the fondue dishes from
the revolving disc as well.
3. Allow the heating base to cool down completely and clean the appliance and
all used accessories (see: ‘Care and Cleaning’). Do not leave any food dry on
the appliance or any part of it.
SOLVING PROBLEMS
Most problems during use can be solved easily. Use the hints in the following table
as an assistance.
Problem Reason The Easy Solution
The appliance is connected
to the power supply but
the heating indicator does
not respond and/or the
heating plate is cold or
cools down.
The appliance is not live. Check the electrical connections. When using an exten-
sion cord, check, if the used power outlet is live and the
extension cord is in proper working order, by connecting
a lamp via the extension cord.
A severe problem occurred.
The overheat protection cut-
out has been triggered.
Immediately unplug the appliance. Get in contact with an
authorised service centre for examination and repair.
During operation a burnt
smell is generated and/or
some smoke escapes.
The appliance is heated
for the very first time.
This is normal and harmless and will diminish on further
use. No need for concern (see: ‘Before First Use’).
The exterior of the fondue
pot has not been clean,
when placing the pot onto
the heating plate.
Switch off, unplug and leave the appliance cool down.
Clean the appliance thoroughly, removing any burnt food
(see: ‘Care and Cleaning’). After filling, ensure that the
exterior of the fondue pot is clean and dry, before placing
the fondue pot on the heating plate.
Some liquid ran out of the
fondue pot and gets bur-
ned on the heating plate.
Switch off, unplug and leave the appliance cool down.
Clean the appliance thoroughly, removing any burnt food
(see: ‘Care and Cleaning’). Do not overfill the fondue
pot. The maximum filling volume is 2.0 litres. When
making fondue with splashing, frothing ingredients, only
fill max. 1600ml into the fondue pot to avoid boiling
over. Clean the appliance thoroughly, removing any burnt
food (see: ‘Care and Cleaning’).
Problem Reason The Easy Solution
Malfunction occurred.
Immediately unplug and, under close supervisi-
on, let the appliance cool down. Get in contact with an
authorised service centre for examination and repair.
The heating indicator gets
dark during operation,
although a temperature is
selected.
The heating plate reached
the selected temperature.
This is normal. Shown by the heating indicator, the tem-
perature control of the appliance switches the heating
element on and off. To avoid overheating the ingredients
in the fondue pot, this controlling process starts already,
before the desired temperature is reached within the fon-
due pot.
Liquid is accumulating
under the appliance or on
the central platform of the
turn table.
Immediately unplug and
let the appliance cool
down. Clean and wipe dry
all parts of the appliance,
before operating the appli-
ance again.
The fondue pot is over-
filled.
The maximum filling volume of the fondue pot is
2000ml (2.0 litres) or 1600ml (1.6 litres), when the
contents may froth or vigorously splash.
The liquid in the fon-
due pot ran out, due to
frothing.
Avoid selecting temperature values that are too high. Fill
the fondue pot with max. 1600ml, when heating liquids
that could vigorously froth (e.g. hot oil). Only carefully
immerse your food to avoid overflow.
Liquids have been spilled,
when moving the fondue
dishes.
Handle the fondue dishes with care, when they are filled
with runny liquids.
The revolving disc cannot
be turned or turns with
high resistance only.
Food or liquid have got
into the bearing of the
turn table.
Always avoid to spill or drip liquids or small pieces of
food into the gap between the central platform and the
revolving disc of the turn table. Thoroughly clean the turn
table (see: ‚Care and Cleaning‘).
CARE AND CLEANING
WARNING – Close supervision is required, if the appliance or any part
of it is in reach of young children! The appliance is very hot during operation
and even some time after switching off. Always turn the control dial counter-clock-
wise to the “OFF” position, then unplug the appliance from the power outlet and
let the appliance cool down completely, before moving or cleaning the appliance.
WARNING Do not immerse the heating base, turn table, or power
cord in water or other liquids. Do not spill or drip any liquids on the heating
base or power cord. Do not place the heating base or power cord in an auto-
matic dishwasher.
