Variation “Big and small animals”
If you like to make it even more confusing, shuffle together all
the 48 animal cards and make two piles of 24 cards each. Each
player takes a pile and puts it face down in front of them.
The game proceeds as in the basic game, taking into account the
following additional rules:
• If there are two identical animals, the grown up animal wins
over the animal kid (for example the big donkey wins over the
small donkey). If both players uncover the same animal (for
example two big donkeys), nobody can snatch for the robber.
• If there are different animals, refer to the orientation card to
make sure which animal wins. But watch out: a small dog for
example wins over a big cat!!!
The game ends as soon as the first player has won two gold
coins.
Variation “Duel of the animal kids”
The game proceeds as in the basic game. However, you play now
with the 16 animal kids. The gold coins are not needed. Each
player gets eight animal kid cards and puts them in a pile face
down in front of them. The player who wins a duel, instead of
putting the cards to the side puts them under their pile.
Whoever has all 16 cards first, wins the game.
