The Law
The installation of your HWAM stove must be carried out in accordance with building regulations
and local building requirements. It is always a good idea to consult a chimney maintenance expert
before installing your stove.
Siting requirements
It must always be possible to admit fresh combustion air to the room where the stove is to stand. A
window that can be opened or a regulable air vent is considered sufficient, but the stove can also be
connected to an HWAM fresh air system.
Please be aware that not all glass parts are heat-resistant. For this reason, a glass wall should sometimes
be treated as a flammable wall, in which case we ask you to contact your local chimney sweep or glass
producer to hear at what distance the stove should be kept from glass.
The load-bearing base
Before the stove is put in position, it should be ensured that the base can support the weight of the
stove and the chimney. The chimney’s weight should be calculated from its dimensions and height.

Distance from combustible materials
Your HWAM stove should always be positioned on a non-combustible base. If it is to be positioned on
a wooden floor or similar surface, the floor should be covered with a non-combustible material

Distance to non-flammable wall
When installing the wood burning stove, you must always have service and cleaning of the stove in
mind. In order to be able to service the automatic devices, we recommend that the wood burning
stove is placed at a distance of five centimetres to a brick wall behind the wood burning stove.
Chimney requirements
The chimney should be of an appropriate height to ensure a sufficient draught and for the smoke not
to create a nuisance. Nominal draught: approx.12 Pa.
The chimney should have a minimum aperture of Ø150 mm.
The chimney aperture must as a minimum match that of the stove’s outlet connector.
The chimney should also be fitted with an easily accessible cleaning hatch.
Draught control regulator
It is recommended that the chimney or flue should be fitted with a draught control regulator in order
that the chimney’s draught can be regulated on those days when there is a strong wind. The draught
control regulator must not be able to seal the chimney completely. There must always be an opening
of min. 20% of the chimney’s or flue’s total aperture area.
