TROUBLESHOOTING
The focus does not adjust automatically.
• Focus is set to the Manual mode.
¥ Set Focus to the Auto mode (੬ pg. 26).
• The recording was done in a dark place, or the
contrast was low.
• The lens is dirty or covered with condensation.
¥ Clean the lens and check the focus again
(੬ pg. 46).
The cassette will not load properly.
• The cassette is in the wrong position.
¥ Set it in the right position (੬ pg. 9).
• The battery’s charge is low.
¥ Install a fully charged battery (
੬ pg. 7, 8).
The memory card will not load properly.
• The memory card is in the wrong position.
¥ Set it in the right position (੬ pg. 11).
Snapshot mode cannot be used.
• The Squeeze mode is selected.
¥ Disengage the Squeeze mode (੬ pg. 29).
The colour of Snapshot looks strange.
• The light source or the subject does not include white.
Or there are various different light sources behind the
subject.
¥ Find a white subject and compose your shot so that
it also appears in the frame (੬ pg. 17, 25).
• The Sepia or Monotone mode is activated.
¥ Turn off Sepia and Monotone (੬ pg. 23).
The image taken using Snapshot is too dark.
• Shooting was performed under backlit conditions.
¥ Press the BACKLIGHT Button ! (੬ pg. 26).
The image taken using Snapshot is too bright.
• The subject is too bright.
¥ Set “PROGRAM AE” to “SPOTLIGHT” in the Menu
Screen (੬ pg. 23).
Digital Zoom does not work.
• 16X optical zoom is selected.
¥ Set “ZOOM” to “40X” or “700X” in the Menu Screen
(੬ pg. 28).
• The VIDEO/MEMORY Switch 4 is set to “MEMORY”.
¥ Set the VIDEO/MEMORY Switch 4 to “VIDEO”
(੬ pg. 13).
Before consulting your JVC dealer, please check the
following to see it you can correct the problem yourself.
The camcorder is a microcomputer-controlled
device. External noise and interference (from a TV,
a radio, etc.) might prevent it from functioning
properly. In such cases, first disconnect its power
supply unit (battery pack, AC Adapter, etc.) and wait
a few minutes; and then re-connect it and proceed
as usual from the beginning.
No power is supplied.
• The power is not connected properly.
¥ Connect the AC Adapter securely (੬ pg. 7).
• The battery is dead.
¥ Replace the dead battery with a fully charged one
(੬ pg. 7, 8).
“SET DATE/TIME!” appears.
• The date/time is not set.
¥ Set the date/time (੬ pg. 10).
• The built-in clock battery has run out and the
previously set date/time has been erased.
¥ Consult your nearest JVC dealer for replacement.
Recording cannot be performed.
—— For Tape Recording ——
• The tape’s erase protection tab is set to “SAVE”.
¥ Set the tape’s erase protection tab to “REC”
(੬ pg. 9).
• The Power Switch u is set to “PLAY” or “OFF
(CHARGE)”.
¥ Set the Power Switch u to “ ” or “ ” (੬ pg. 13).
• The VIDEO/MEMORY Switch 4 is set to “MEMORY”.
¥ Set the VIDEO/MEMORY Switch 4 to “VIDEO”.
• “TAPE END” appears.
¥ Replace with new cassette (੬ pg. 9).
• The cassette holder cover is open.
¥ Close the cassette holder cover.
—— For Memory Card Recording ——
• The VIDEO/MEMORY Switch 4 is set to “VIDEO”.
¥ Set the VIDEO/MEMORY Switch 4 to “MEMORY”.
There is no picture.
• The camcorder is not getting power, or some other
malfunction exists.
¥ Turn the camcorder’s power off and on again
(੬ pg. 13).
