BEFORE USING, READ ALL OF THE INSTRUCTIONS AND WARNINGS CONTAINED
IN THIS MANUAL AND KEEP IT IN A SAFE PLACE.
The new Laica audio baby monitor was designed for parents who want to monitor
their babies without interruption.
It has a compact, pocket-sized receiver that can be attached to a belt and operates
on the mains and with rechargeable batteries.
GENERAL WARNINGS
The use of any electrical device requires the observance of certain fundamental rules:
• Unplug immediately after use and always before cleaning and inserting or removing
accessories.
• Do not pull on the power cord or the device itself to unplug.
• If the electrical device falls in the water, do not try to pick it up. Immediately unplug
it.
• Do not immerse the appliance in water or any other liquids.
• Before using, make sure the device is intact with no visible damage. If you have
any doubts, do not use the device and contact the retailer.
• In the event of a failure and/or malfunction, do not tamper with the appliance.
Contact the retailer for repairs.
• In order to prevent electrical shocks, do not open the baby unit and parent u nit
except for the battery compartment of the latter.
• This device must only be used for its intended purpose and in the manner indicated
in the instructions. Any other use shall be considered i mproper and therefore
dangerous.
The manufacturer cannot be considered responsible for any damage from improper
or incorrect use.
• Children and individuals with reduced physical, sensory or mental capacities or
unskilled people must only use the product if previously instructed on its use, in
safety and only if informed of the dangers connected to the product itself.
• Keep the device away from heat sources.
• Do not leave the device exposed to weather (rain, sun, etc.), high temperatures or
overly low temperatures.
• Do not use the device in humid areas or near the water.
• Make sure your hands are dry when plugging or unplugging or turning the device
on/off.
• This device must only be used with the voltage shown on the power adapter plate.
Only use the adapters supplied to connect the baby and parent units to the power
outlet.
• To avoid dangerous overheating, we recommend unwinding the power cord for its
entire length.
• Pull the plug when the unit is not in use.
• Attention ! Do not tamper with the electrical cord for any reason. If it is damaged,
contact the dealer.
SPECIAL WARNINGS
• This device is intended for use solely as a baby monitor and any other
use is considered improper. The Laica audio baby monitor is a tool to help
parents, but cannot replace proper and responsible supervision by adults
and must not be used for that purpose.
• The audio baby monitor is not a medical device or a device that can prevent SIDS
(Sudden Infants Death Syndrome). An adult must regularly check the baby in person.
In fact, the child's well-being must never be entrusted to the device.
• As set forth in current legislation, the audio baby monitor uses a public type frequency.
Therefore the device could pick up signals and voices from other similar devices
nearby and the sounds from your device could be picked up by other devices.
• Do not leave the baby monitor or its accessories, such as adapters and batteries,
within reach of children. Prevent children from playing with the device.
• The maximum operating distance between the child unit and parent unit is about
300 metres outside and 50 metres inside a house. Keep in mind that the signal
transmission distance is affected by various factors (such as the number and type of
walls between the child unit and parent unit, the arrang ement and type of furniture,
the presence of concrete walls, the location on different floors, etc.).
Consequently, the connection between the two units could be significantly reduced
or not possible.
• Do not use the audio baby monitor near other electrical or electronic devices.
They an impact the signal quality between the baby unit and parent unit or make
it impossible to receive.
• Before using, check the parent unit reception, making sure signal reception is
possible where you wish to position it.
• Make sure the baby unit and the adapter cord are always out of reach of children
(at least a metre away). Do not put the baby unit in the crib or playpen.

AUDIO BABY MONITOR
• Do not put objects in the audio baby monitor openings and absolutely do not cover
the two units (baby and parent) with covers or towels.
• During operation it is normal for the power adapter, baby unit and parent unit to
be warm to the touch. Be careful when handling. Do not put the two audio baby
monitor units on delicate surfaces (e.g., glossy or precious) because they could
damage them. Only use rechargeable units in the parent unit (type AAA 1.2V 750
mAH NiMH), do not use alkalline batteries.
• Only use the power adapters provided to avoid damaging the baby and parent units.
• Insert the rechargeable batteries in the parent unit even when the device is connected
to the mains, otherwise the device will not work.
• When the device is not in operation, we recommend disconnecting it from power
and removing the batteries.
• Attention ! This is not a toy; it is an audio baby monitor for home use. Do not leave
the object unattended even when not used.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Preparing the device (baby unit and parent unit)
The baby unit is powered using the adapter provided (no. 7). The parent unit uses
two rechargeable batteries type AAA, 1.2V 750 mAH NiMH (provided) that can be
recharged on the charging base provided (no. 8).
During the first use, the parent unit must be charged for at least 13 hours. During
this period, it will work powered from the base. Attention! The parent unit cannot be
used without batteries, even if it is placed in the base.
Parent unit:
1) Remove the belt clip, sliding it from top to bottom. Open the battery compartment
by sliding the cover down.
2) Insert 2 rechargeable batteries, 1.2V AAA 750 mAH NiMH in the compartment,
paying attention to the polarity and after first making sure your hands are dry.
3) Close the battery compartment and insert the belt clip.
4) Place the parent unit on the battery charger base.
5) Plug in the power cord. The red operating light will start to flash. This indicates
that the parent unit batteries are low. Use it on the base until the light turns green.
When first used, the parent unit takes about 13 hours to completely recharge. After
that, only 6 hours are needed. Remove the batteries if not using the device for
long periods of time. For more information regarding the d isposal of used batteries,
contact the store where you purchased the appliance that contained the batteries
or the City or local waste disposal service.
Attention: For greater safety, removal of the batteries by children under
12 years of age is NOT recommended.
Baby unit:
1) Put the bay unit on a flat and rigid surface at least one metre away from the baby
with the microphone aimed toward him/her. Do not put the baby unit in the crib,
bed or playpen.
2) Connect the adapter to the baby unit (no. 6) and then plug it in.
Using the device
1) Put the baby unit on a flat and rigid surface at least one metre away from the baby
with the microphone aimed toward him/her. Do not put the baby unit in the crib,
bed or playpen.
2) Turn the baby unit on by pressing the "O/I" button for a few seconds. The operating
light will come on. It can also be used as a small night light.
