In accordance with the US Department of Trans-
portation's "Uniform Tire Quality Grading Stand-
ards", tire manufacturers are required to grade
their tires on the basis of thefollowing three per-
formance factors:
1Tread wear grade
2Traction grade
3Temperature grade

Trread wead wear grear gradeade
The treadwear grade is a comparative rating
based on thewear rate of the tire when tested
under controlled conditions on a specied govern-
ment test course. Forexample, a tire graded 150
would wear one and one-half (1\1/2\) times as
