7 Flash modes
Depending on the camera model, the following
flash modes are available:
• Automatic flash mode ( ), chap. 7.1
• TTL flash mode ( ), chap. 7.2
• Manual flash mode ( ), chap. 7.4
• LED mode (video light)
• servo mode .
A data transfer between flash unit and camera is
necessary before setting flash modes
e.g. by actuating the shutter release.
7.1 AUTO Flash Mode
With the AUTO flash mode, the flash unit can be
used easily for flash photography. It is not necessa-
ry to select particular settings on the flash unit.
The AUTO flash mode is a simplified flash mode for
digital cameras without settings choices and/or the
camera mode “P mode" and the fully automatic
mode.

7.2 TTL flash mode
These flash modes offer a very simple method of
obtaining very good flash shots. Here, the exposure
is measured by a sensor in the camera. It measures
the light reflected by the subject through the lens
(TTL = "Through The Lens").
If the shot was exposed correctly, the correct expo-
sure indication will illuminate for about 3 seconds
(see 4.2).
When taking a shot, an almost imperceptible mea-
surement pre-flash is triggered by the camera prior
to the actual exposure process.
