How to pair the BT City to pre vious BT line unit
The BT City is compatible with all the BT line unit fr om Midland. Y ou
can pair the BT City to a BT2, BT1, BTX1, BTX2 or BTNext unit and the
max distance of the interc om is dened from the lower possible .
T o pair the BT City to another BT line unit , you must rst enter the
setup mode:
1. T urn o the unit
2. Press and hold down the Middle butt on about 7 sec., until the Red
light is on permanently .
3. Now press long (3 sec) the “Control” button, the Blue and Red light
will ash.
4. Follow the pr ocedure on the other unit’ s instruc tion manual (nor-
mally you can use the “V olume +” button on all the previous BT
line units like BT1-BT2).
5. When successfully pair ed, each unit will have the Blue light on
for one second and than go back to the setup mode (Red light
always on).
If you don’ t have mor e devices to pair , y ou must exit the setup mode
from both units before y ou can use them: for BT City double click on
the “C ontrol” button, the Red light will turn o and the Blue light will
start ashing. For the other devices of BT line , please refer to their
own user manual.
Resetting all paired devices
Sometimes you may nd it necessary to delete all the pairing refer en-
ces stored in the B TCity unit (reset oper ation).
› T o perform this operation, switch o the BT City and keep pr essed
the “C ontrol” . The red led turns on.
› Simultaneously press and hold down the “V olume +” and “Volume
–“ buttons for 3 seconds. T he Blue Light will be lit on for 1 sec.
This procedur e deletes all the paired Bluetooth devic es stored in the
memory and it is therefore possible to start a new “ clean ” pairing
session.
Using the wired audio input
Y our Midland BT City is also supplied with a wired audio input (labeled
AUX), that can be used to c onnect an audio source, like an iP od (or
any other MP3 Player) or a PMR446 tr ansceiver for communications
in group or for a cov erage increase.
Priority: the wired audio input has the lowest priority when compar ed
to the other Bluetooth connections (including the Inter com) and will
therefor e always be disabled when another Bluetooth c ommunication
is opened.
Using a i-P od/MP3 Player
Listening to music
T o listen t o music from the wired input , connect the audio source
using the cable supplied with the BT City unit. The volume lev el is au-
tomatically adjusted by the A GC system, which means that y ou only
need to adjust the volume of your iP od/ MP3 play er to a level that will
allow you to list en to music in normal speed.
GPS Navigator with st ereo music player
If the GPS is also a stereo MP3 play er and you want t o listen to stereo
music, you must pair the GPS to the “Volume +” butt on. In this con-
guration the GPS street v oice announcements will interrupt all other
communication (Inter com, Music).
When the GPS is paired to the “Volume +” butt on the “Phone ” mode
is activated.
Attention: It is possible to list en A2DP Stereo m usic from the
GPS only in “Phone Mode” .
How to pair the BT City to a GPS
In general is possible to pair the BT City to all the GPS for motorbik e that
support Bluetooth headset connection.
T o pair the BT City to a GPS, you must rst en ter the setup mode:
1. T urn o the unit
2. Press and hold down the “ Contr ol” button about 7 sec ., until the Red
light is on permanently .
3. Now press rmly (3 sec) the “V olume +” or “V olume -” button, the
Blue and Red light will ash.
4. Enable the Bluetooth device search featur e on your GPS
5. After some seconds, “ Midland BT City” will be displayed on y our GPS.
6. Follow the pairing procedur e of your GPS. If a pin code is r equested
you must enter “0000” (four times zero).
7. When successfully paired, the Blue light of the unit will be on for one
second and then the unit will exit the setup mode and switch to the
working mode (the Blue light will start ashing).
Y ou can now use your B TC ity and the GPS street voice announcement
are always in back ground.
If you pair the GPS to the V olume + button (because for example the
“Volume –“ butt on was already used), you loose the possibility to pair
the phone to the BT City unit. Y ou can ov ercome this limit by pairing the
phone directly to the GPS and then the GPS to the BT City unit. All the
phone features ar e therefore managed b y the GPS itself.
How to use a GPS
When paired using the “ V olume -” butt on the GPS will be automatically
connected and the voice announcement ar e always in back ground also
if the intercom is active .
When the GPS is paired to the “Volume +” butt on, the street voice an-
nouncement will always in terrupt the interc om. In addition, remember
to switch to “Phone” mode in order t o listen and control the music (pla y/
pause - backward and forward).
If the phone is connected through the GPS you must use the con trol
buttons on the GPS screen in or der to control the phone functionality .
Using the intercom fea ture
T o use the Inter com featur e, be sure both BT City units are turned on
and previously paired t ogether .
The two units supplied in the Midland BT City TWIN Pack, are already
paired and ready for use , which means that it is not necessary to per-
form this procedur e.
If the devices are not part of the same pack, or one of the BTCity units
has been purchased separat ely , you need to pair them in order t o be
able to use the Inter com function.
Pairing with another BTCity device
1. Turn o the unit . Press and hold down the middle butt on about 7
sec., until the Red light is on permanently .
2. Pr ess the “C ontrol” button on the rst unit until the RED and BLUE
lights begin to ash rapidly and alterna tely .
3. Then pr ess the “ Control“butt on on the second unit until the RED
and BLUE ligh ts begin to ash rapidly and alternately .
4. Now both BT City units are trying to pair to each other .
When successfully paired , the blue led of each device will light for
1 sec and go back to setting mode (red light alw ays on) waiting for
additional pairing or setting procedures .
5. T o use the two devices , exit the setting mode: Double click on the
“Con trol” butt on. T he red light will quit and the blue light will be-
gin to ash. Now you can use y our BT City.
