Removing:
DANGER! Risk of injury from

~The portafilter19, the filters1/2 and
the brewing head13 are hot after rins-
ing and after making an espresso. Only
touch the hot portafilter by the handle
and allow all parts to cool down before
touching them.
1. Turn the handle of the portafilter19 to
the left until it reaches the symbol
16.
2. Remove the portafilter19 by pulling it
downwards.
9.5 Connecting and
switching on/off
DANGER! Risk of electric
shock!
~Only connect the device to an easily ac-
cessible wall socket with earthing con-
tacts whose voltage corresponds to the
specifications on the rating plate. The
wall socket must still be easily accessi-
ble after connection.
1. Set the dial5 all the way to OFF.
2.
Make sure that the espresso button

and the steam button28 are
switched off. This means that the but-
tons are not pressed in.
3. Connect the mains plug7 to a wall
socket.
4. Press the on/off switch 22. The
switch clicks into place. The red LED23
is lit. The espresso LED26 flashes.
The device heats up. The temperature dis-
play24 shows how the temperature is ris-
ing. When the espresso LED26 lights up
continuously, the device is ready to brew es-
presso.
5. To switch off, press the on/off switch
22 again so that it disengages. All
LEDs go out.
NOTES:
• The espresso machine heats up again if
it is left ready for use for a long time.
The espresso LED26 flashes briefly.
Wait until the espresso LED26 is con-
tinuously lit again.
• The espresso machine switches off auto-
matically if no buttons have been
pressed for approx. 30 minutes. To
switch it back on, press the on/off
switch 22 once to disengage it and
a second time to switch the device back
on.
9.6 Rinsing the device
If you have not used the device overnight,
for example, or if you are using it for the first
time, we recommend that you flush the de-
vice once to fill the pipes with fresh water.
