Many V ista users will not be able t o run the Q-DBASE soft ware. T his
problem is caused by the UAC (U ser A ccou nt C ontrol) limitat ion, a
security optio n l imiting the user privile ges i n V ista. T o o vercome this
proble m, ri ght-cli ck the Q -DBAS E p rogram icon and choose “ Run as
administrator” in the popup me nu. W indows will respond with the
window shown on the right: just click “Allow”.
HOW TO USE …
Most of t he co mmon f unctions a re expla ined i n th e p revious ch apter
“controls and functions” In this chapter we talk about the functions that
need a litt le m ore explanation.
SOME GENER AL FUNCTIONS:
SE ARCH A TR ACK WITH THE Q-DB ASE SYSTEM:
Import ant: before you can use the Q-DB ASE s ystem, you should scan your US B-drive so it co ntains the
necessary files.
You ca n choose t he search key at any moment by pr essing the TRACK -knob (19) while you turn it. You
can search for Art (artis t), Alb (album) or Gen (ge nre).
Press the D A T ABA SE-button (16) to start the lookup function the first character of the list you want
to search is blink ing in the display .
Turn the FOLDER knob (18) to change the first character .
Turn the JOG W HEEL (24) to browse the list that corresponds t o your demand at high speed. If you
want t o search more precisely track by track, you can also turn the T RACK k nob ( 19).
Once you hav e found the r ight track: press the E NTER- button (17).
SE ARCH A TR ACK WITHOUT THE Q- DB ASE SYSTEM:
Press and turn the TRACK -knob (19) t o select St d (standard lookup system). If the U SB-dr ive has no Q-
DBAS E files, the pla yer automaticall y selects the standard lookup system. You ha ve Two options:
Option 1:
Simply use the FOLDER and TRACK k nobs to brows e the different directories.
Option 2:
Press the DA T ABAS E-but ton (16) to start th e lookup function b oth the FOLDER a nd TRACK
displays start blinking.
Turn the FOLDER knob (18) to browse the folders (press and turn to br owse by 10 steps).
Turn the JOG W HEEL (24) to browse t he selected folder at high speed. If y ou want to search more
precisely track by track, you can also turn the T RACK knob (19).
Once you hav e found the r ight track: press the E NTER- button (17).
SLEEP MODE:
W hen source select is set to CD, the CD player automatica lly sh uts off the transport and laser after about
5~120 m inutes (sele ctable in the setup m enu), while in pause or cue m ode. This exte nds the life of your
motor drive a nd laser. Dur ing sleep m ode the di splay sho ws the w ord “ z Z SL EEP…”. T o wake up the
player, just pr ess the cue o r pla y b utton, the d isplay tu rns to normal an d i s read y to receive instructions.
REL AY FUNCTION:
First connect t he FAD ER S TART inputs (3) on both pla yers using t he supplied fader-start cable. Use the
SGL/C NT -button (14) to select “single” mode on both units. Open the 2 faders of the CD inp uts on your
mixer. Put a disc in both players and start pla yback on one of the u nits. Alternat ely a track will be played
from both u nits until the relay funct ion i s dise ngaged. You can alwa ys put a new CD in the player that is
waiting in pause. In this way you can create an endless program, perfect for use in pubs etc.
PITCH BENDING:
This function is used to synchronize the beats of two tracks. This can be done i n t wo wa ys:
PITCH BEND bu ttons: The speed incr eases or d ecreases respectively as l ong as t he PITCH
BEND+ or PITCH B END- buttons are pressed.
JOG WHEEL: During CDJ-pla y mode the JOG W HEEL will temporarily bend the pitch of the music
by tu rning the JO G W HEEL clockwise to sp eed up o r count erclockwise to slowdown. The r otation
speed t he JOG W HEEL determines the percent of pitch be nd.

PL AYING/RECORDING CD-R and CD-RW :
Apart from normal audio CD’s the DMC10 00 can p la y both CD -R (CD recordable) and CD -RW (CD
rewr iteable). Please note th at y ou sh ould alwa ys use the “disc at once” and “track a t once” disc writing
options! Although the DMC 1000 is ca pable of reading CD-R and CD-RW r ecorded at higher speeds, we
suggest not using recording speeds m ore than x12 to increase readabil ity. Alwa ys buy good quality brands
for CD-R and CD- RW!
If the disc is multi session, it w ill only pla y the first session:
if the first session is C D-D A you can only pla y CD-D A tracks.
if the first session is MP3 you can only play MP3 files.
ABOUT LOOPS:
CRE ATE AN AUTO LOOP :
Make sure the automatic beat counter is active and its readout is stable.
Press the AUTOLOOP-button (36) to activate t he auto loop function:
Check if the EFFECT/LOOP SE LE CT button (45) is se t to loop (red lig ht)
Use the buttons on both sides of the EFFECT/LOOP SYN C bar (44) to choose t he lengt h of the loo p
you want to make. (for example: a 1/1 LOOP , wh ich is a standard 4beat loop)
Press the LOOP IN-button ( 33) at the right mom ent.
The DMC1000 a utomatically c alculates the endpoint of the loop and starts pla ying the loop instantly .
Y o u can use the butt ons on both sides of the E FFECT/LOOP SYNC bar (44) to instantly cut/extend the
playing loo p.
NOTE: This function only w orks well when the music contains continuous and st eady be ats.
CRE ATE A LOOP M ANU ALLY:
Make sure that the AUT OLOOP-button (36) i s switched off.
W hile a track is playing, pr ess LOOP IN button (33) to program the starting point of the loop. Now press
the OUT button (34) to program the endpoint of the l oop. The seamless loop st arts pla ying at once. (W ith
some practice you will be able to create perfect loops!) W hile the loop is playing, y ou can press the OUT
button (34) again to exit the loo p and continue the rest of the track.
It is possib le to program a new loop, even when the current l oop is still playing. W hile the loop is playing,
simply press the LOO P IN button (33) to set the starting po int of the new loop. Now enter th e endpoint by
pressing the OUT button (34). Y our new loop is programmed and pla ying.
REST ART A LOOP:
This can be done in 3 ways:
W hen a loop is prog rammed and you left it by pressing the OUT butto n (34), just press RELOO P (35)
to restart the loop.
W hen a loop is progr ammed and you left it b y pr essing the OUT button (34), just press OUT again to
restart the loop. The point where you pressed OUT i s now programmed as the new endpoint of the
loop.
W hen the loop is still playing, press the R ELOO P but ton (35) to restart t he loop immediately . Y ou can
repeat this se veral tim es to create a “Stutter ” effect .
EDIT A LOOP:
First check i f the EFFECT/LOOP SEL ECT bu tton (45) is set to effect (green light)
W hen a lo op is programmed, press the RE LOOP bu tton (35) for about 2 seconds t o enter “lo op edit” mode.
W hile the loop is seamlessly playing, the alph anumerical displa y shows the t ime i nformation of the loop
endpoint. Use the jog wheel to set the ne w loop endpoint. T o make things very eas y you can h ear your
modifications t o the l oop e ndpoint continuously . If you also want to e dit the l oop in tro point, pr ess the
RELOOP -button (35) to toggle between the loop start and e ndpoint. W hen the l oop is p erfect, press the
LOOP OUT button (34) to save the new lo op endpoint.
CUT/EXTEND LOOP FUNCTION:
First check i f the EFFECT/LOOP S ELECT bu tton (45) is set to loop (red light)
W hile a loop is playing y ou can you can use the butto ns on both s ides of the EF FECT/LOOP SY NC bar
(44) to instantl y cut/ex tend t he p la ying loop:
CUT FUNCTION: press the button on the left side of th e EFF ECT/LOOP S YNC bar (44) to cut the loop
in half. Ever y time y ou press this button the loo p is cut in half unti l you reach “ 1/64 Loop”. Y o u will
notice a “*” character on the left side of the disp la y appearing an d disappearing. This is a visual aid
that t ells you when it is safe to cut the loop in hal f without a “false” ski p in the loop: when it is safe to
