Protection of yourself and others
¾Completion of a course on use and servicing
ofthepolesawandarstaidcourseis
recommended. In order to re-familiarise
yourself with the tool if you have not used it
for a long time, and for practice, always make
simple cuts in safely supported wood before
starting work in earnest.
¾Do not let children or persons who have not
read these usage instructions use the device.
The minimum age of users may be dened by
local or national legislation.
¾Do not operate the device if there are people
(especially children) or animals in immediate
proximity. Ensure children do not play with the tool.
¾Stop using the device if persons (especially
children) or animals are nearby.
¾This device must not be used by children
or persons with reduced physical, sensory
or mental capabilities or with inadequate
experience and knowledge. Likewise persons
must be familiar with this instruction manual
before using the device. The minimum age for
using the device may be specied by local or
national legislation.
¾Only switch the motor on if your feet and hands
are at a safe distance from the cutting element.
¾Always disconnect the device from the power
supply if you are leaving it unattended or
removing a blockage.
¾Always wear slip-resistant shoes and long
trousers as well as other appropriate personal
protective equipment (safety glasses, ear
defenders, safety gloves, safety helmet,
etc.) when working with or on the pole saw.
Wearing personal protective equipment reduces
the risk of injuries.
Do not wear loose clothing, etc., which could be
caught by the cutting tool.
Before use
¾Before use, make sure you are familiar with
the tool, its functions and controls.
¾Do not use any tool whose switch is defective
andwhichcannolongerbeswitchedonoro󰀨. It
must be repaired by a qualied expert or workshop.
¾Never use a device with damaged or missing
guards or covers. They must be repaired or
replaced by a qualied expert or workshop.
¾Before making adjustments to the device or
cleaningit,switchthedeviceo󰀨andremovethe
power pack or remove the operating arm, in which
the permanently installed battery is located.
¾Ensure that the tool is fully assembled
according to the instructions.
¾Check the tool for fault-free operation,
especially that the cutting bar is correctly
seated and the chain correctly tensioned.
¾Read and observe the operating manual of the
charger and operating arm in which the power
pack is permanently installed.
During use
¾Never leave the tool unattended during breaks
and store it in a secure location.
¾Be aware of hidden objects when working.
¾Alwaysholdthetoolrmlywithbothhands.
¾Also when working maintain a safe distance
relative to the cutting tool.
¾If you have long hair, wear a hairnet.
¾Take extra care if you are walking backwards.
Risk of tripping!
¾Switchthemotoro󰀨whencarryingthedevice
to or from separate working positions.
¾Never bypass or tamper with safety devices
installed on the device (e.g. by taping the
switch to the handle).
¾Always be aware of your environment and
possible hazards which you may not be able
to hear because of the noise of the device.
¾No other persons or animals may remain
within a circumference of 15 metres around
the cutting area because they may be injured
by ejected objects.
¾Do not work in poor lighting or weather
conditions.
¾Only use the tool for the work for which it is
intended.
¾Keep the tool handles dry, clean and free from
oil and/or grease.
¾Do not carry out cutting work in bushes, as
this may result in small twigs being caught
in the chain and then thrown out in an
uncontrolled manner.
¾Ensure that you can stand safely and securely
in every work position.
¾Before starting the tool, ensure that the chain
is not touching anything.
¾Do not use ladders, as these can result in loss
of balance or loss of control of the tool.
¾Do not stretch the arms too far forwards.
¾Never work while stood on or in trees.
¾Do not saw any wooden parts that are under
strain.
¾Never work alone. Ensure that you within
earshot or sight of, or have some other form
of connection with another person, who is
abletoproviderstaidinanemergency.
