Transport, assembly, starting up and maintenance
1. Transport
The bottom of all climate control units or combinations thereof must be
supported during transport. When using a fork lift truck, make sure the
forks are slid completely under the housing, in order to avoid denting the
housing (use support beams if necessary!). If the housing is hoisted using
cables, it must be protected against denting by the hoisting strap.
Suitable skids (balancing beams) should be used for this purpose.
2. Assembly
2.1 Installation of the unit
The housings must be installed level, so that the removable panels can
be easily opened and closed. The motorised fan has vibration dampers
fitted and it is therefore not necessary to fit extra vibration dampers
under the housing. We do however recommend that a thin rubber strip be
mounted between the housing and the support, in order to compensate
any slight irregularities in the support. When installing the Unitair, the free
space in front of the operating side must be at least equal to the width of
the unit. This is necessary for replacement of the filters and for replace-
ment of the battery or the fan. Positioning and installation of the various
housings to give the required combination is carried out as follows:
First position the heaviest housing component. Stick the sealing tape pro-
vided with the unit onto the profile side against which the following hou-
sing is to be mounted. Position this housing component and connect it to
the first housing component by means of the housing coupling set provi-
ded with the unit. (see page 14)
Note:
Do not stand in or on the housings. Check whether all couplings are atta-
ched well and are airtight. The duct connection and/or sleeve flanges can
also best be attached using sheet-metal screws. The same applies to any
valve registers provided separately.
2.2. Battery connections
The best principle for a good connection is that the water in the battery
runs counter to the air flow. This means that if the air entry is on the right
the water supply must be on the left. It makes no difference whether this
supply connection is at the top or bottom. Non-compliance with these
connection instructions will lead to loss of capacity. In the piping system,
directly outside the Unitair by the battery connection, a good vent and
drainage system must be installed. The batteries must be connected by
couplings in such a manner that they can be removed from the housing
for dismantling. Please make sure that the connection hoses are not in
front of the inspection panels and/or hinder maintenance work.
Note:
When screwing the connections to the battery, the connecting stump
must be held firmly with appropriate tools in order to avoid the battery
connection being bent or rotated, as this may otherwise result in serious
damage (leaking battery).
2.3 Air side connections
The air side connections can be attached to the delivery and suction side
either directly or via the reduction pieces and/or sleeves provided. If the
filter is fitted directly to the suction side (i.e. without in-flow section), the
connection duct piece must be large enough that the air flows equally
over the entire filter surface area. To ensure smooth air flow, the duct
connection must not be tapered, or cause a bottleneck.
2.4. Electrical connection
The 230 Volt – 1 phase DC motor used for the direct-drive fan has a built
in safety system. The control/power box is connected according to the
diagram (see appendices). The electrical connection must be in accor-
dance with NEN 1010 and locally applicable regulations. Both the motor
and the fan housing have an earth connection. The cable feed through
the housing wall can be rendered airtight by means of the PG 16 gland
with nut provided separately.

motor SM, see 2.5.
2.5 Installation of frost protection thermostat VT10
If used, the thermostat will be provided separately together with an instal-
lation kit (see 2a).

Start by attaching the mounting bracket to the volute casing of the fan or
next to it on a panel. N.B.: do not attach the bracket to an inspection
panel! Now attach the PG 9 gland with nut. Stick the temperature indica-
tion sticker in place and fit the thermostat. Now place the thermostat
temperature sensor in the gland, secure it and then connect the electrical
wiring by means of the insulated contact clamps. Find the switching tem-
perature of the thermostat and measure the ambient temperature. Adjust
the thermostat knob in such a fashion that the indicator on the knob
shows the measured temperature. First remove the cap off the knob
before mounting the knob in place. Now set the thermostat to an ambient
temperature of 10º C.
The frost protection thermostat will now switch off the fan motor at an air
temperature of 10º C and the servo motor (SM), if mounted, will close the
valve register for the battery. If the frost thermostat switches off the unit,
the hot water battery will not supply enough heat. Once the malfunction
has been detected and solved, the frost thermostat will reset itself and
the fan motor will be switched back on. The PG 16 gland and nut provi-
ded can be used for airtight cable feed through the unit housing. Refer to
the diagram (2b) for the electrical connection. If the frost thermostat is
used in combination with a regulator, the frost thermostat must be con-
nected in series to the regulator power supply.
