Tyres & inner tubes
Bike tyres come with many designs and specifications for different riding styles. There are all kinds of tyre, from universal tyres to special tyres for different
weather or terrain.
Once you have enough experience on your new bike, you may come to the conclusion that you need tyres that are better suited to your needs. Any bike shop
can help you choose the right tyres for your purposes. All tyres will have the recommended inflation pressure on the outside wall, as well as other information
such as the size and possibly the intended use.
It is very important that you never inflate a tyre to a pressure higher than that indicated on the outer wall. This could cause it to burst and jump off the rim,
resulting in serious injury to you or bystanders. We also do not recommend use of the compressors at petrol stations or other compressors, as they pump
very strongly in a short time, which could cause your tyre / inner tube to burst.
There are essentially three basic types of bike valve. The Schrader valve that is similar to a car tyre valve, the Presta valve that is very much thinner and the
Dunlop valve that is secured by a union nut. You need a pump to match the valve type on your bike.
