Charging the rechargeable battery
2
First connect the Carrera RC rechargeable bat-
tery to the battery charger supplied. The connec-
tion terminals between the batter y and the c harg-
er are designed to prev ent connection with the
wrong polarity. Connect the charger to a power
source.
When the batter y is properly connected and
charging normally , the red LED is constantly lit.
Once the battery is full y charged, the red LED
switches to green. The battery can now be dis-
connected and installed in the Carrera RC boat.
The boat is now ready for use.
After use, the batt ery must be allowed to cool
down f or at least 20 minutes bef ore it can be
fully r echarged. F ailure to observe this pause ma y
damage the battery.
Alway s recharge the battery immediately after
use to prevent its becoming deep discharged.
Recharge the battery occasionally (suggested
every 2-3 months). Failure to treat the batter y
as described above can lead to its becoming
defective. Rechargeable batteries are only to
be charged by adults.
Installing the rechargeable battery
3
Using a screwdriver , remove the cover of the bat-
tery compar tment in the Carrera RC boat.
4
Connect the end of the cable fr om the Carrera RC
boat with the charged batter y . Put the battery in
place.
Replace the compar tment cover using a screw-
driver .
Inserting the 9 V block battery
5
Unscrew the cover of the batter y compartment in
the controller and insert the 9 V block battery.
6
When inser ting the 9 V block battery, ensure that
the polarity is correct. Different types of batteries
or new and used batteries are not to be mixed.
Replace the cov er using a screwdriver .
Now y ou can drive the boat
7
The Carrera RC boat and the controller are con-
nected with each other at the factory. Should
there be any communication pr oblems at the start
between the Carrera RC vehicle and the control-
ler , please carry out a reconnection.
Switch the car on.
8
Press the “Binding” button on the back of the con-
troller and hold it down while switching on (A).
The LED on the controller begins to flash.
9
After a few seconds if binding is successful, the
LEDs on the car and the controller will light again
continuously .
Let’ s practise!
10
Cau ti on: this boa t can reac h s pe e ds up t o
20 k m / h.
When first starting, be very careful when operat-
ing the gas pedal. Practice running slowly for at
least two t o three full charges of the battery before
you start practising faster manoeuvres.
Note: when the controller remains unused for
more than 5 minut es, it swit ches automatically into
“sleep” mode to avoid wasting power in the con-
troller’s 9 V battery .
This means the boat receives no more radio sig-
nals and behaves as described under point 15
“Range control”.
• Bring the boat back to the bank after about
20 minutes to change the battery
• Never run more than 2 batteries down one
after the other . After running down two fully-
charged batteries, a pause in running for at
least 20 minutes is essential.
• Av oid constant motor operation.
• If the model switches itself off several times
in quick succession, the battery is
dead. Please recharge the battery.
• T o switch off af ter use, follow the steps in
the reverse order .
• After use, remove or disconnect the battery.
• Clean the Carrera RC boat after the running
session.
• Always keep t he Carrera RC battery stored
outside the boat.
Controller functions
11
Y ou can steer the model in any direction using the
joystick s:
Joy stick on left : for wards/backwards
Joy stick on right : left/right
The joystick s are remov able.
12
Alternatively , the model can be controlled with the
rockers. The joystick s can be stored in the special
compartment at the back of the controller.
13
Thanks to 2.4 GHz technology , up to 1 6 boats can
be operated on one course at the same time. This
is possible even without harmonising frequencies
between the racing drivers.
14
Attach the lanyard to the ey elet on the controller
and let the controller hang from y our neck. Then
plug the microphone in to the contr oller and fasten
it to the carrying strap with the clip.
Caution! Danger of strangulation!
15
Range control
When it goes beyond the range of the radio fre-
quency , or the controller is not touched for over 5
minutes, the boat sails in small but e ver-incr easing
circles to try to regain the radio frequency range.
Make sure you operate the controller once if nec-
essary to deactiv at e the “sleep” mode. See 10.
„Let‘s get some practice“.
Boat‘s horn / Loudspeaker
16
The boat‘s horn is sounded when you press the
left-hand button on the controller .
17
Y ou can make an announcement ov er the boat’s
loudspeaker by pressing the right-hand button on
the controller while speaking into the microphone.
Acoustic battery condition moni-
toring
18
When the boat battery is almost empty,
the status LED next to the ON/OFF-switch
will start t o flash regular ly. The boat’ s horn
sounds several times, and the boat stops
briefly . Then the boat will restar t, and travel at
only about 40 % of its normal speed until the
battery’s final voltage is reached.
Please head f or the shore immediat ely and
change the battery.
T roubleshooting
Problem
Boat does not mov e
Cau se: Either the switch on the controller or the boat is set
to OFF .
Sol uti on: Switch on
Cau se: There is no rechargeable batter y in the boat or the
battery is too weak.
Sol uti on: Inser t charged battery
Cau se: Signal note is emitted - weak battery in the controller
or in the model.
So lut io n: Insert new batter y or recharged battery .
Cau se:
The overheat protection has caused the boat’s motor
to cut out due to e xcess temperature.
Sol uti on: Switch off the receiver .
Leave the R C boat to cool down for appro x. 30 minutes.
Cau se:
The battery or rechargeable battery in the transmitter
or boat is t oo weak.
Sol uti on: Inser t new battery or recharged battery.
Cau se:
The contacts of the water sensor are dirty .
So lut io n:
Please clean the water sensor contacts regularly
with tap water and a little vinegar -based cleaner .
Cau se: The boat is very warm.
Sol uti on: Allow the RC boat to cool down f or about 30 min-
utes.
Cau se: The controller is possibly not correctly connected
with the receiver in the model.
So lut io n: Establish contact between model and controller
as described under “Now you can driv e the boat”.
Problem
Boat cannot be controlled
Cau se: Boat starts moving unintentionally ..
