HOW TO USE THE NAILER
CAUTIONS
Never use the head or body of this device as a
hammer.
Take precautions to ensure the safety of persons in
the vicinity during operation.
Use only genuine HITACHI heat treated nails for this
NR50AK.
Be sure to position and insert the first nail point
through the hole in the metal connectors.
Do not drive nails at an angle of less than 50 degrees,
since the nails can ricochet and hurt yourself or
someone else.
Always point first nail protruded from the nose away
from yourself and others.
Do not push tool forward when positioning the first
nail in metal hole. If pushing forward, nail head will
be damaged and broken, or will cause jamming.
1. Nailing procedures
This tool has a Sequential Trip Mechanism (Single
Shot) for use when precision nail placement is
necessary.
You must first depress the nail point where you
want to drive a nail and then pull the trigger.
After the nail is driven, completely release the
trigger and lift the tool off the work surface.
This tool is not designed for contact trip operation
(bounce fire), and not available for contact trip valve
units.
And this tool has a new push lever (safety)
mechanism, this is a different push lever mechanism
from another nailers.
The position of the push lever when the nail feeder is
pulled back is shown as below.
When nails are loaded and the trigger is depressed,
the push lever comes down and when the push lever
touches the workpiece, a nails is driven.
This tool is equipped with a lockout feature that
prevents the tool from being activated when there
are 4 or less nails in the magazine.
There is a method of operation to drive nails with this
Nailer.
It is intermittent operation (Trigger fire) only.
(1) Be sure to position and insert the first nail point
through the hole in the metal connector with finger
off the trigger.
Be sure to position the nail with triangle mark (
) at
nose muzzle (See Fig. 4).
Keep the tool vertically when driving (See Fig. 5).
Do not push the tool forward when positioning the
first nail in metal hole. (See Fig. 6)
(2) Pull the trigger to drive a nail with keeping your face
and hands away from the nose muzzle.
(3) Remove finger from the trigger.
Remove the nailer from workpiece and reposition
into the next pre-punched metal hole.
Repeat same process.
(4) When change the nail length, remove all the nails in
the magazine.
NOTES
This is a SEQUENTIAL TRIP MECHANISM, and should
be used in accordance with all warnings and
instructions.
Always handle nails and package carefully. If nails
are dropped, collating plastic may be broken.
After nailing:
(1) disconnect air hose from the Nailer;
(2) remove all nails from the Nailer;
(3) supply 5 – 10 drops of Hitachi pneumatic tool
lubricant into the air plug on the Nailer; and
(4) open the petcock on the air compressor tank to
drain any moisture.
2. Changing the exhaust direction
The direction of the exhaust vent can be changed by
turning the top cover (See Fig. 7).
INSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE
CAUTION
Be sure to disconnect the hose during cleaning
jams, inspection, maintenance and cleaning.
1. Countermeasure for nail jamming
(1) DISCONNECT AIR HOSE.
(2) Remove the nail strip from the magazine, insert a rod
into the outlet and tap the rod with a hammer (See
Fig. 8).
(3) Remove the jammed nail with slotted screwdriver
(See Fig. 9).
(4) Cut off the defective part of the plastic which links the
nails with cutting nippers, correct the deformation,
then load the nail strip in the magazine.
(5) In case of frequent jams, consult the Authorized
Service Center from which you bought this machine.
2. Inspecting the magazine
Clean the magazine. Remove plastic tips or wooden
tips which may have accumulated in the magazine.
Apply oil occasionally to the ribbon spring of the nail
feeder (See Fig. 10).
3. Check on mounting screws for each part
At regular intervals check every part for loose
mounting screws and whether or not there are any
air leaks. Retighten any loose screws. Operating the
equipment with loose screws untightened will incur
a hazard.
4. Inspecting the push lever
Check if the push lever (Fig. 1) can slide smoothly.
Clean up the sliding area of the push lever and use
the provided oil for lubrication from time to time.
