Remarks about the reverse mode facility
The cassette deck will not enter the recording
mode if the two tabs have been removed trom the
cassette (see Fig. 3).
If only the tab for side 2 (or side B) has been
removed,
the cassette deck will stop at the end of
the recording on side 1 (or side A).
Preferably use cassettes with transparent leader
tape.
When using cassettes with untransparent
leader tape, the QUICK reverse will not operate. In
that case, the tape will reverse about 4 seconds
after stopping at the end of the cassette.
When recording in the modes as shown in Fig. 7b
or Fig. 7c, the first 0.3 seconds of the second side
will nof be erased. Therefore, a previous recording
on that part of the tape should be erased in advance
(in the Fig. 7a mode).
During the quick reverse operation, the input
channels are muted for about 0.8 seconds.
RECORDING
1. Ensure that the cassette deck has been con-
nected as described under 'CONNECTIONS'
and that the mains voltage has been switched
on with the power 'ON/OFF' switch ©. The
'REVERSE MODE' indicator indicates the mode
of Fig. 7b. The direction indicator BH will
indicate the direction of tape travel. This will be
the direction which was used during previous
use of the cassette deck.
2. Open the cassette holder @ by pressing
'EJECT' button @.
3. Place a cassette which is nof protected against
recording in the cassette holder, with the open
side down, and the full reel on the left. Close the
cassette holder.
If the direction indicator shows the
<1
direction,
then press the 'PLAY >' button © and the
'STOP'
button @ immediately thereafter.
The direction indicator then changes to the >
direction.
4. If you so wish, switch on the Dolby B or C
system.
5. Set your amplifier to the sound source from
which you wish to record or connect the
microphones to the cassette deck.
6. Press the 'PAUSE' button (u) and then (with the
'PAUSE'
button held pressed), press the 'REC'
button @. The cassette deck is now in position
recording/pause, which is confirmed by the
indicators (the 'PAUSE' indicator will flash).
Does the 'REC' indicator @ not light up?
- Then a cassette which is protected against
recording is in the deck.
Put another cassette in the deck.
7. Let the connected unit play or speak/sing into
the microphone(s) and set the recording level
with the Controls @ in such a way that the
recording level indicators @ light up to the
O
dB
section during passages of average volume,
see Fig. 5. An overshoot of up to +3 dB during
peaks is normal.
8. Differences between the left-hand and right-
hand channels can be corrected by setting the
two Controls @ differently, see Fig. 6.
Do the recording level indicators @ not light up
(well)?
- Check that the 'REC' indicator @ is lit up. If not,
see point 6. above..
- Check that the required sound source has been
properly connected.
- Check that the amplifier setting is correct.
- Check whether a sound source other than the
required one does function properly.
9. Now start the recording by pressing 'PAUSE'
button @ again.
10. Check the recording level from time to time;
adjust if necessary. s
11. To stop the recording, press 'STOP' button (g).
Notes
By immediately pressing the fast wind button'
after the recording (thus not the 'STOP' button @
first) the tape is quickly rewound to the beginning
of the recording just made. The tape then stops
automatically.
N.B. After recording in the direction
<1
you must
press the fast wind button '»'!
If you only want to record one side of the
cassette, before recording press button 'RE-
VERSE MODE' @ until the 'REVERSE MODE'
indicator lights up as illustrated in Fig. 7a.
SILENT RECORDING 'REC MUTE'
When pressing 'REC MUTE' button @ during
recording,
a silent passage of 4 seconds will be
inserted,
after which the cassette deck will stop in
the recording/pause mode. Undesired interrup-
tions,
such as announcements etc. will not be
recorded in this way.
