The VR 2020 is abletodetect user errors,

mains failures,and so on.Thefollowirng

list gives the VCR's reaction to these

events. Therefore, if while setting up or

operating your VR 2020 something has

happened which you do not

understand, lool<through this list.

Setting Up

EVENT

While tuning TV set to VCR (page 5) only

a poor-quality picture is obtained,

No picture at all is obtained while tuning

TV set to VCR.

While checking the VCR pre-seiectors,

the number entered on Keyboard is not

accepted;

previous number is again

displayed.

Operation

EVENT

VCR will not record or play back.

Clock Display is uniit.

Clock Display blinks.

VCR will not record, cassette helder

automatically opens when Record button

pressed

Recording quality poor

Poor or no sound/picture on recorded

cassette.

Attention Timer lights.

Pre-programming Display flashes single

number on and off.

Pre-programming Display blinks one of

words START STOP, DAY or CHANNEL

after an unattended recording has been

programmed.

Cassette holder automatically opens

when End button pressed after details of

unattended recording have been entered.

POSSIBLE CAUSE, AND CORRECTION

a You have not pressed the TV pre-

seleotor reserved for VCR. Press this

pre-selector.

b VCR has automatically switched

itself off. Switch on.

a The number you are trying to call has

not been stored in the VCR. If desired,

store it as shown in Steps

-6 on page 6.

b You have stored more than 26

stations on the VCR.

POSSIBLE CAUSE, AND CORRECTION

Mains failure or VCR is not conneoted

to mams.

There has been a mains failure, or the

VCR has been disoonnected trom the

mains. Reset the clock if neoessary.

a No cassette inserted

b Cassette side protected against over-

recording.

c End of tape reached.

a Weak transmitter signal.

b Cassette incorrectly stored.

c Too long since VCR cleaning cassette

was used.

a Cassette incorrectly stored.

b Too long since VCR cleaning cassette

c TV pre-selector reserved for VCR not

exactly tuned. See page 5, Step 5.

This Is a reminder that there is an

unattended recording in memoryfor

today.

Unattended recording cannot be

carried out because VCR is being

operated manually. If you wish to carry

out the unattended recording, switch off

the VCR.

When you set the timer (page 12) you

did not enter one or more of these

items.

Press

Call,

the block number (e.g.

2),

and then ^ repeatedly until the item

is reached. Enter the Information. If this

is not done wlthin 30 seconds after the

display starts to blink, the complete

block will be deleted. Enter it once

more.

IMPORTANT

1 You are not allowed to record television

programmes if this Infrlnges copyright or

other rights of third partles.

2 The VR 2020 is set to the mains voltage

of the area in which it was bought, as

shown on the type plate. If you move to

an area with a different mains voltage, let

your dealer make the neoessary

adjustments.

3 All Information which was entered

during "Setting Up" (Seotion 1) is held in

the battery-powered memory of the

VR 2020. This memory will keep lts

contents for about 3 months if disoonnec-

ted from the mains supply. After that time,

you may have to set the VCR up again.

4 (For UK only) The wires in the mains

lead are coloured according to the

following code: Blue:.Neutral, Brown. Live

If the mains plug (or adapter) contains a

fuse,

the value of this fuse should be

3 AMP. Alternatlvely, if another type of

plug is used, the fuse at the distribution

board should not be greater than 5 AMR

As the colours of the wires may not

correspond to the markings in your plug,

you then must prooeed as follows:

• the Blue wire should be conneoted to

the terminal marked "N" or coloured

black.

• the Brown wire should be conneoted to

the terminal marked "L" or coloured red.
