4. Press to view the denition.
Press THES t o view the thesaurus entry, if

Confusables ✓
Confusables are homon yms, homophones and
spelling variants that are easy to confuse , e.g .
rain, reign, and rein. If the wor d you looked up
is a confusable, the C ONF sof t key will appear .
Press C ONF to view the confusables.
Selecting W ords ✓
Y ou can select words in the English Dictionar y ,
add them to My English Wor d List, and hear
their pronunciations the same way y ou did
in the English-Spanish and Spanish-English
dictionaries, but you will only be able to look
them up within the English Dictionar y or
Franklin Thesaurus.
Using the F ranklin T hesaurus
View synon yms, classmates (rela ted words),
idioms, anton yms, and other expressions f or
an English word using the F rank lin Thesaurus.

press .
3. T ype a word (e.g., splendid ).

Understanding Thesaurus Entries ✓

or idioms. Synonyms are w ord s th at hav e s imil ar
meanings, e.g . happy/joyous . Antonyms are
words that ha ve opposite meanings, e .g. happy/
miserable. Classmates a re wo rds tha t a re rel at ed
to the headword , e.g. o ctago n/t rian gle; re ctan gle;
pentagon.... Finally , idioms are phr ase s th at
extend the ordinary use of the word.
My W ord List
As you explor e new words, sa ve them in
either My English Wor d List or My Spanish Word
List for personal study or review .
Adding W ords Directly
1. Press MENÚ and then press LEARN.
2. Press or to select My English W ord List or
My Spanish Word List. P ress .
3. Press ADD .
4. T ype a word, and press .
Spanish words ar e automatically added to
the list.
When you type an English word , a list is
displayed of the dictionaries in which your
word appears—EN (English Dictionary) or
ES (MW English-Spanish Dictionar y). If the
option appears in italics the translation for
that word is alr eady saved to the list.
Note: If the word y ou typed is not found in
any dictionary on the device you see a list
of possible corrections.
5. Press or to select the entry you want to
add to your list.
6. Press SA VE to add the word .
7. Press CL OSE when done.
Adding W ords from a Dictionary
Y ou can add words to My Wor d List from any
dictionar y or thesaurus in your device.
1. Press MENÚ .
Y ou see the Bo oks menu.
2. Use or to select a dictionar y or thesaurus,
then press .
Press LANG at the w ord entry screen to toggle
the entry language between Spanish and
English.
English words will be added to My English W ord
List; Spanish words will be added to My Spanish
Wor d List.
3. T ype the word you want to look up and add
to your w ord list.
